FAQs for Agents
How does Spotlight work?
Spotlight is used by casting directors all over the world to send out breakdowns for roles they are casting. Each of these breakdowns is sent to agents and/or performer members of Spotlight via email and via the Spotlight website. When an agent receives the breakdown, they're able to submit a client who has a Spotlight profile for the role, if the client meets the criteria described in the breakdown. The casting director will then search through the submissions they've received via Spotlight and invite their shortlisted performers to audition for the role.
How will joining Spotlight help me to get my clients more work?
Casting directors use Spotlight because it is the quickest and easiest way for them to get their latest casting or audition information onto the desks of agencies or directly to performers. As an agent member of Spotlight, you'll receive casting breakdowns straight into your inbox and be able to submit your clients for roles at the click of a button, helping your clients to be seen for more projects.
Plus, when your clients join Spotlight, they'll each have a unique online profile that you can use to promote them to the industry or forward on to a casting director. Their profile will include their headshots, a list of credits, their showreels or voice clips and details of their skills. When casting directors search Spotlight for performers, your clients will show up when they meet the relevant search criteria.

How do I become a Spotlight registered agent?
In order to become a registered Spotlight agent you will need to fill out an initial Spotlight agent registration. Once you have provided some basic details a dedicated account manager will get in touch to complete the registration process.
Are there any specific requirements when joining Spotlight as an agent?
Each registration application is assessed individually. Key things we look for include: information about you and your business, how long you have been established, number of staff and membership of relevant professional organisations. We also review information about your clients and agency structure, number of clients, client specialisation, commission rates, and how you select your clients.
Once our questionnaire has been completed and your registration approved, you will be sent an email so you can set up an account with a username and password.
How do I get access to the Spotlight Link?
Once successfully registered, and to take full advantage of the service (including full access to breakdowns), you will need to have at least five Spotlight performers who publish you as their agent on Spotlight.
If you are a young performer's agent you will need a minimum of eight Spotlight children or young performers who publish you as their agent on Spotlight to receive Link breakdowns.
How much does it cost to register as an agent on Spotlight?
There is no charge to register as an agent on Spotlight. Once you have been approved, you’ll be able to begin submitting clients free of charge.
How can my clients be listed on/unlisted from my Spotlight account?
You can email [email protected] to notify us. The Data Team at Spotlight will update the client record and the performer will show on your client list, or be removed immediately. Alternatively performers are able to list or unlist an agent themselves by signing into their member account.
How do I submit my client for a role?
If you see a breakdown that you think one of your clients is suitable for, you simply click on the ‘Suggest Clients’ option and choose the clients you wish to submit. Their profile will then be attached to the submission list. You can add a short note with each submission.
What levels of access will my clients have to the link board?
When you are signed into your account, you can choose the level of access each adult client has to the Link Board. To manage their access go to the ‘Client Link Board Access’ area. Young Performer members cannot access breakdowns.
The 3 levels are:
- Read Only Access: This is the default setting, where the client can only see roles on the link board
- Nudge Access: The client can see roles on the link board but can also ‘nudge’ you to show their interest in the role
- Full Access: The client will be able to apply for roles themselves
How do I change information on my client’s profile?
When you are signed into your account click on ‘Client List’ and you will see a list of all your clients. Clicking on one of them will bring up a range of options, from editing a profile to managing media.
Is Spotlight an agent? What does it mean to be a 'Self-represented' performer on Spotlight?
Spotlight is a professional casting platform. We do not represent our members but we provide them with access to the Link, where current work is listed.
Performers without representation will be listed as ‘Self-Represented’ on Spotlight and Spotlight-registered casting directors will be able to contact them directly from a button displayed on their profile, this will send a message from the casting director directly to the performers email, so you can communicate with them further via email.
For non-registered Spotlight enquirers: If a self-represented performer shares their profile publicly, there will be no change to how non-registered enquiries see your profile. Spotlight’s Enquiries team will still show as the contact on your profile so that we would continue to vet and send on those queries manually for you in those instances.
Please note: Young performers cannot be self-represented on Spotlight.
