Open House: Monday 22nd October 2018

Open house is back! With a fantastic mix of workshops, one-to-ones and panel discussions. This week-long series is your opportunity to continue to develop your skills, expand your network and progress your career. 

All events are free for current Spotlight members. Please book onto a max of 2 events to allow for as many Spotlight members to participate in these events.

Mon 22 October 10:00 – 12:00

Spotlight Open House: Chubbuck Technique
During this workshop, you will have the chance to work with qualified Chubbuck Technique teacher Patrick Regis. You will start by working through the basics of the technique and what it entails. You will then have the chance to work through some scenes that will have been sent to you a week before the workshop takes place. There will be time at the end of the session for questions.

Monday 22 October 13:30 – 15:30

Spotlight Open House: Audition Technique with Director
During this workshop, you will have the chance to perform in front of theatre director Caroline Steinbeis and receive feedback and small directorial changes. Along with this, you will be able to feedback on your peer's performances and observe their pieces being directed.

Mon 22 October 16:00 – 18:30

Spotlight Open House: Directing for Theatre
During this workshop, you will have the chance to work with theatre director Holly Race Roughan. During the session, you will learn techniques to help you devise and direct your own work. The session will have a focus on directing yourself for solo performance.

Mon 22 October 19:00 – 21:30

Spotlight Open House: War Horse Puppetry supported by The National Theatre
Over session, participants will look at the puppetry and rehearsal techniques involved in creating War Horse. Exploring the horse gait, sound and reading body language, participants will come away having gained a deeper insight into this record-breaking production. This is a wonderful opportunity for actors to develop a sought-after skill, starting by manipulating objects individually, before working with others and looking at the techniques of manipulating one puppet together.

Spotlight Open House: Agent One to Ones - Hannah Wilkinson
These 15 minute one to one sessions are aimed at those without current representation. Please only book on if you are currently unrepresented. During the session, you will have the chance to ask key questions to a well-established agent about seeking the right representation for you. Sessions are short so please come prepared with questions.
