Open house is back! With a fantastic mix of workshops, one-to-ones and panel discussions. This week-long series is your opportunity to continue to develop your skills, expand your network and progress your career. 

All events are free for current Spotlight members. Please book onto a max of 2 events to allow for as many Spotlight members to participate in these events.

Spotlight Open House: Profile Clinic
Whether you're looking to be cast in local productions or looking for opportunities in London, Europe or in America, brand new to the industry or looking to take the next step in your acting career, this session will be useful for you. Spotlight's industry expert Emma Dyson will talk you through how best to use your Spotlight profile, and how you can make sure you're winning as much work as possible. Bring your enthusiasm and questions!

Spotlight Open House: Playing the Voice
Conducted within a creative atmosphere the workshop will review technical vocal skills and ways of playfully tuning the voice for professional output. The aim will help to blow vocal cobwebs away and bring fresh energy to breath and tone of the voice applied to thought, line, phrasing and character. The ingredients of the voice can be considered rather like colours and textures of paint on an artist’s palate. This concept will form a framework for the session.

Spotlight Open House: Musical Theatre Audition Technique
During this workshop, you will get the chance to work with Casting Director Jill Green and Dreamgirls Musical Supervisor Nick Finlow. There will be a chance for some participants to perform and receive feedback from both Nick and Jill. Although not everyone will be able to perform, the feedback and advice given will be beneficial for all involved.

Spotlight Open House: Access All Areas: Voice, Breath and Movement
Specifically developed for disabled actors and performers, this session will unlock potential and release the Natural Voice. Using exercises and games the session will cover sustainable voice and breath work to increase stamina and imagination. It will give you techniques to enable a freer and more powerful voice through engaging and accessible practices.

Spotlight Open House: Frantic Assembly - Curious Incident of the Dog in the nighttime
Experience what it is like to be an actor in the rehearsal room and recreate key moments from the award-winning production The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time with Frantic Assembly, the Movement Directors' of the show in our Curious Incident Uncovered workshop. Uncover the devices and techniques used to create movement, use production specific exercises and explore the Frantic method of devising, which is about empowering people to be better at making theatre from a physical starting point.

Spotlight Open House: Stage Combat - Weapon Handling
In this masterclass, you will focus on knife work, starting with foundation skills in weapon handling before moving on to some choreography. This style of combat is used a lot in opera, stage and film productions so a great weapon to get to grips with. It is a very versatile weapon and casting wise can be used by almost any character type.
