Spotlight North West Open House: 9 May 2018

On Wednesday 9th May, we'll be hosting workshops, Q&As and one-to-ones led by top industry professionals working across all areas of film, television and theatre. The events will be held at the Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool, in association with Pearson Casting. This venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Developing Your Career
The opening session of Spotlight Open House North West is your opportunity to find out how to develop your career. Whether you're looking to be cast in local productions or looking for opportunities in London, Europe or in America, brand new to the industry or looking to take the next step in your acting career, our panel will be able to advise you. Local casting director James Pearson and Spotlight's industry expert Emma Dyson will talk you through how best to use your Spotlight profile, and how you can make sure you're winning as much work as possible.

Acting for Comedy Workshop
Join Spotlight for this active workshop with actor and director John Garfield-Roberts. You'll learn key techniques for comedy acting, and have the chance to ask John everything you've always wanted to know about the art of being hilarious!

More and more casting directors request self-tape auditions, but how can you stand out and give yourself the best chance of securing the role? Join Spotlight's Nicholas Peel our resident camera expert, to learn how you can create the perfect self-tape.

NYT Workshop - Ensemble Skills & Audition Technique
Please note this workshop is for 11-18 year olds only. A practical and playful ensemble workshop from the National Youth Theatre. Through a variety of physical exercises and group discussion we will offer concise advice on how to improve ensemble and audition skills.

Exploring Movement and Physicality with Boisterous
Working with some of the creatives and performers from Boisterous' Bouncers you will have the chance to work with director Miriam Mussa. Bouncers is a very demanding piece and the characters are larger than life - caricatures/cartoon. In this workshop, you will explore some of the techniques that have been used in Boisterous' version.

Networking Evening
Come along to Fredericks for a relaxed and informal evening of networking with key players of the performing arts industry in Liverpool. There’ll be guests from all areas of the industry for you to chat to, so join us and mingle with fellow performers as well as leading agents and casting directors to discuss and discover the opportunities for work in the North West.
