Spotlight Open House London: Tuesday 4th April
Spotlight Open House is back! Kicking off on Monday 3rd April is a jam-packed week of workshops, Q&As and one-to-ones led by top industry professionals working across all areas of film, television and theatre.
Most of the events will be taking place at our Spotlight Studios and at 12 Bow Street, Dublin. We'll also be livestreaming some of the sessions, meaning that you can get involved with Open House wherever you're based.

Panel on Women and Diversity in Casting
The panel includes actress and The Monobox co-founder Joan Iyiola, actresses Rebecca Root and Kellie Shirley, and casting director Maureen Hughes. With a focus on women and diversity in casting, they'll be talking about their experiences of the industry, and what can be done to create more opportunities for women and minorities. This will be followed by a brief Q&A.

Many people in the performing arts will experience challenges with their mental health at some point in their lives. That's why artsminds.co.uk is here to help. These private, 30-minute one-on-one sessions are a chance for you to speak to counselling psychologist Dr Carol Chapman, who works with BAPAM. The session is completely confidential and an opportunity for you to discuss any challenges that you're currently facing.

This workshop has now sold out.
It's important when receiving a script to break it down and work out how best to portray a character. As part of Spotlight Open House, you'll get the chance to get the most out of a read-through and work on particular skills such as effective text analysis, character development and understanding nuance for comedic effect.
Director Ben Gosling Fuller will be running this active workshop. Ben has extensive experience in both single and multi-camera comedy. His credits include THE BLEAK OLD SHOP OF STUFF for the BBC, the first series of BAD EDUCATION (written by and starring Jack Whitehall for Tiger Aspect/BBC3) and the second series of PRAMFACE (BBC3) and CITIZEN KHAN (BBC1).

This masterclass has now sold out.
Your voice plays an integral role in your career as a professional performer, and it's important that you understand the skills and exercises you need to help develop your voice, making sure you keep it flexible, healthy and ready to adapt to any performance.
Expert voice coach and director, Barbara Houseman will be leading a masterclass as part of Open House where you can ask her any questions you might have about how to get the best performance from your voice. There will also be practical elements to the session so that you can go away with invaluable practical tools.
