2023 BAFTA Scotland Awards Nominations Announced

‘Aftersun’, ‘Mayflies’ and ‘Karen Pirie’ are among the leading nominations for this year’s awards

The coveted BAFTA Scotland Awards are here once more to celebrate the very best of Scottish talent in 2023. Hosted again by radio DJ and TV presenter Edith Bowman, the BAFTA Scotland Awards aims to honour excellence across the Scottish screen industries.

The awards will be held in Glasgow at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Sunday 19 November. A whole host of famous faces and acting stars will be in attendance and handing out awards on the night, and the ceremony will be available to watch on BAFTA’s YouTube channel.

We’re thrilled to see so many Spotlight members nominated across the categories, including James Cosmo (My Sailor, My Love) and Paul Mescal (Aftersun), who have both been nominated for the Actor Film category, while Frankie Corio (Aftersun) and Lucy Halliday (Blue Jean) have both been nominated for Actress Film. 

Spotlight members Brian Cox (Succession), Tony Curran (Mayflies) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy) have been nominated for Actor Television due to their fantastic work, and the Actress Television category recognises the talents of Spotlight members Izuka Hoyle (Big Boys), Ashley Jenkins (Mayflies), Lauren Lyle (Karen Pirie) and Vinette Robinson (Six Four).

Aftersun, the father and daughter drama written and directed by Charlotte Wells, is leading the nominations charge with a whopping five nominations for Actor Film, Actress Film, Director Fiction, Feature Film and Writer Film/Television.
