By Charlie Gardiner

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Or at least, for those celebrating awards season, it is. The build-up to the 95th Oscars is upon us, and as we reflect on the last year in film, we look forward to seeing who will be celebrated for their outstanding work.

With so many films forced to delay their releases over the last few years due to the pandemic, there's been a huge increase in eligible films for the Best Picture category in 2023, jumping from 276 in 2021 to 301. Competition is fiercer than ever.

Each film nominated at this year’s Oscars brings something completely new and unique to the competition, especially in the performance categories. Spotlight members Bill Nighy, Andrea Riseborough, Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon all made the list. Whilst The Banshees of Inisherin, Tár, Aftersun and Living were all cast through Spotlight and received nominations in the major categories.

Oscar®-winning actor-producer Riz Ahmed and actor Allison Williams co-hosted the announcement of the nominees for the 95th Annual Academy Awards. And the nominees are...
